Dr. Wallace Lab takes the approach that science should be fun and impactful, so he & the lab are involved in several projects to share science with the general public

Gaming with Science is a podcast Dr. Wallace stared in 2024 with fellow UGA professor Dr. Brian Kvitko. We use board games as a springboard to talk about real science topics, ranging from evolution (Evolution, Nature) to chemistry (Periodic, Compounded) to planetary science (Terraforming Mars). A quick index to past seasons is below; current episodes can be found at GamingWithScience.net or wherever you get your podcasts.

Dragon Con is one of the largest science fiction & fantasy conventions in the Southeast. Hosted in downtown Atlanta for 5 days in September, it brings in >70,000 attendees every year. Nestled among the many activities is the Science Track, a group dedicated to sharing science with a splash of fun. Dr. Wallace has volunteered with the Science Track since 2022, being one of many volunteers to help plan, organize, and carry out 40+ panels during the convention. Panels he has spoken on have drawn anywhere from 50 to 300 people, and the Track as a whole reaches 5,000-10,000 people every year.

Not all Science Track panels are recorded, but those that are eventually find their way to the Science Track YouTube channel. Although Dr. Wallace has spoken on a dozen or so total, the only one currently available is COVID-19 Versus the Zombie Apocalypse (2022), so we invite you to enjoy the many other great Science Track videos on offer.
